Fun at Innocademy This Week…

Ms. Rachel W’s Friends are collecting food for pets through Feb 14th. If you’d like to help, please drop off your items at the front desk labeled Ms. Rachel W – Pet Food Drive.

Ms. Rachel’s class did such a great job explaining how they wanted to be positive change makers in their community (like MLK was), and how we can help them with the cause!

Is Your Child Ill? Please Follow The Guidance Below

Please help us create a safe, healthy environment for all of our students and teachers. We ask for your help by keeping your child home any time he or she is ill or becoming ill. It can be a tough call but if we all adhere to the guidelines, we can help make these days happen less for everyone. We will continue to rely on our professional medical partners at the Ottawa County Health Department for their most up-to-date guidance for K-12 Schools.

In general per the Ottawa County Health Department please keep your child home for any of the following:

  • Fever within the previous 24 hours, must be fever free without the use of medications for 24 hours.
  • ANY vomiting or diarrhea in the past 36 hours. Must be completely symptom free without the use of medications for 36 hours. If they still are not eating normally, they shouldn’t return to school.
  • Any symptoms of diseases (COVID-19, scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, etc.)
  • Runny nose with any colored discharge
  • Excessive coughing
  • Sore throat
  • Any unexplained rash
  • Pink eye
  • Head lice – Child should be treated and free of all nits/live bugs before returning to school.

If a student becomes ill, exhibiting any of the above symptoms, during the school day, a parent will be contacted to determine if the student should go home using the guidelines above.

Please see, below for the current Covid guidelines and recommendations.

As stated above, students are required to stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours with no medication and symptoms are improving. Additional recommendations are as follows…

  • Isolate for five days,
  • Mask for for five additional days
  • If you student is experiencing symptoms it is recommended to test for COVID
  • If your student is exposed to somebody who has tested positive, it is recommended they test after five days of being exposed and wear a mask for ten days.

Again, the information above regarding Covid is what is currently recommended, not required. We thank you for your help in keeping our students and staff healthy as we move through the winter months.

REMINDER – INNOCADEMY IS A NUT-FREE SCHOOL

Because we have students and staff with life-threatening allergies to peanuts and tree nuts it’s incredibly important that we are vigilant about remaining a completely nut-free campus.

You might be saying, “Well, I know that no one in my child’s class has an allergy so I’m okay sending a bag of trail mix as a snack.” Does your child ever use the community lunchroom? restroom? drinking fountain? Do they ever open a door to exit or enter the building or internal areas? Guessing that would be a “Yes.” for all of our students each day. Should your child have any nut residue or nut butter smear on their hands, they can leave traces on any table, door, or area they touch. For some students and staff, unknowingly touching that area and then touching their mouth, eyes or nose is enough to send them into anaphylactic shock, closing their airway and necessitating immediate life-saving medical attention.
