YOU ARE ANGELS!
Thank you so much for your generosity in making Christmas brighter for all of our Angel Tree Families at IES this year! Simply amazing and “thank you” doesn’t quite cover it.
COLD IS COOL
For over a decade, the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) has provided low-cost programs to help get kids outside during the winter. Cold is Cool Passport App MSIA is pleased to provide an affordable way for families with 4th and/or 5th graders to head out to Michigan’s ski slopes and trails by obtaining the Cold is Cool Ski & Ride Passport App. With the app, 4th and 5th- grade students can ski free two-or-three times at each of the 29 participating ski areas when accompanied by an adult. MSIA charges a one-time, per-student fee of $25 to administer this program. The lift tickets are all donated by the participating ski areas. Program details are available here. Discover Michigan Skiing For those who don’t know how to ski, we also offer a reduced-rate program in January called Discover Michigan Skiing & Snowboarding. Everyone, including adults, can learn to downhill ski, cross-country ski or snowboard at the very reasonable rate of $45. The package includes rental equipment, a beginner group lesson and a beginner-area lift ticket. Details are available here. Financial Assistance It’s not always easy to find financial resources to help with the costs of outdoor recreation. So, MSIA put together a page on our website that may be of assistance to you and/or to the families in your community. You can access the page here. I want to point out a program called “Every Kid Sports” that provides funding for qualifying students. Skiing is an approved sport for this program. Please help us spread the word! Our state is a winter wonderland for three months each year. We look forward to providing some fun and experiential learning opportunities for your students. More information on skiing and snowboarding in Michigan – including ski area COVID-19 protocol – is available at goskimichigan.org. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call (248) 620-4448 or reply to this email. |

Survey – Please complete by Monday, Dec 13th at 11:59pm
As part of the American Rescue Plan, federal dollars have been set aside for schools to address and respond to the Covid pandemic. We have another round of money becoming available over the next several years called ESSER III funds, and we want to gather feedback from our stakeholders.
We will share the feedback before break. More importantly, as we develop our budget, which is part of the application process, we will consider our stakeholders’ feedback.
Please take a few minutes to read through the survey and answer the questions. We ask that it is completed by Monday, December 13th, evening. The survey can be found HERE.
Thank you for your time!
