Meet Ms. Jessenia!
Hello Inno Families!
You may or may not know me and so I thought it would be helpful to introduce myself in this new role this year. I’m Ms. Jessenia and I am serving in both a las huellas Spanish Immersion lead and to overall support behavior for our entire Y5 through 8 school. I have taught for 11 years and for both Spanish Immersion, Spanish and English Language Arts Y5-12th grade. I am very passionate about ensuring that all students feel safe and respected. My goal this year is to help students think through their actions and words in a way that creates a more welcoming and respectful community. Our four school wide expectations that we have outlined as a part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) include be respectful, be responsible, be resilient and be safe. Every teacher in our school uses this language when teaching and acknowledges the behavior expectations we strive to see at our school on a daily basis. When I have conversations with students it is because at least one of these school wide expectations was not met. The conversations that I have with students are centered around what happened, what was the intent behind the behavior and thinking through how his or her reaction can look differently next time. I offer students to partake in a restorative circle to address the harmful behavior that has happened as a way to explore moving beyond this situation. I do also have conversations around our school wide rubric with each student so that they are fully aware of consequences that result from their actions. Please reference our rubrics from our Innocademy Family Resource Guide on pages 18-20 for Young 5s thru Kindergarten, pages 21-24 for 1st thru 4th grade and pages 24 thru 27 for middle school (5th thru 8th grade). Before/After School Care Available!
Kindercare in Holland (10240 Adams St.) is partnering with us to offer Before/After school care to our students! They are also able to help families out for break weeks and summer programming. You can check out their website, below, for registration:

- They open at 6am and close at 6pm.
- They will drop students off in the morning prior to school and pick them up at 3:20 each day.
- Tuition for before and aftercare for school-age kiddos is $120.00 for all 5 days.
- 3 days for before and after is $90.00 a week
- 2 days is $75.00 a week

Family Climate Survey – Please Complete by Nov. 29th
It is already October and we are well into the start of the school year. In an effort to celebrate what has gone well so far this year and areas we can continue to grow, we are seeking your input. Each fall we collect family, student, and staff perception data. The data is compiled and used to develop our School Improvement Plan. Your participation has a direct impact on our school-wide goals and measurable outcomes.
Please fill out the FAMILY PERCEPTION SURVEY by Monday, November 29th. Your input is important to us and we look forward to learning from you the success and challenges you have noticed this year.

As an IES family we value all the members of our community and have a heart to give to those who are struggling. Because of living amidst a pandemic, and with the Holiday season approaching, we know that there are many people who may need assistance in one way or another.
