IMPORTANT PARKING LOT NOTES FOR EVERYONE; EAST AND WEST LOTS. PLEASE READ. =)
Please, please, please… no matter which side of the building you are picking up students, STAY IN YOUR CAR. This not only helps us move the line long efficiently but also ensures the safety of our sweet kiddos.
Don’t like waiting in the long line? Don’t blame you a bit! Consider not arriving to campus until 3:35-3:40pm each day. Once the lines begin on each side, they move along, steadily.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR EAST PARKING LOT FOLKS. Precademy preschool begins this next week. They will have approximately 10-15 little ones they need to reunite with their parents between 3:15 – 3:30pm Monday – Thursday. They are the only ones who will be parking, getting out and escorting their little ones back to their cars. Please see the map, below, which shows where they will be parking each afternoon.

NEW INFORMATION
MASK REMINDERS
For the most part, kids have been doing a great job of wearing their masks appropriately throughout the day! Thank you!
If you wouldn’t mind taking a moment to check with your kiddo on the fit of his/her mask, that would be great! Have them place it on their face as they would do in class. This way you can help with any adjustments so that it fits snugly over their mouth and nose. If you have an extra to throw in their backpack, that would be great – just in case they forget one in the morning or maybe have an incredibly wicked sneeze at some point during the day – or maybe would just enjoy a fresh one to change into later in the day.
STUDENT ILLNESS
Unfortunately, we are entering the season of horrible allergies, colds and flu. If your child is suffering from any of the symptoms, below, that are NOT related to seasonal allergies, they should be kept home until symptoms are no longer present without the use of medication.
- Cough
- Runny nose and/or congestion
- Tired and/or achy
- Short of breath
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- New loss of taste and or smell

UPDATE ON SCHOOL MEALS FROM MS. NANCY – HOLLAND CHRISTIAN FOOD SERVICE – NOTE MENU CHANGE FOR 10/12 & 10/26.
I always loved playing basketball in high school and was a pretty good point guard, back in the day…I was quick to turn with the ball and a fast break away player. These skills that I developed over 35 years ago—have helped me as we make quick decisions and pivot with all the changes with School Meals.
On August 31st we realized that all meals would be FREE! At that time we had no summer planning to figure out how we would feed our students. We rode out our current school menu—however changed our menu mid September to better serve our students.
We are using the same child nutrition program foods from GFS with the National School Lunch Standards. Our goal is to serve nutritious foods that are popular and that students will eat. We no longer have a fresh salad bar, a hot table that we are serving from and, most importantly, our staff misses seeing the students they serve. We deal daily with purveyor shortages as we are being shorted from our distributors.
We work really hard to ensure that each meal has the entire school lunch components. We are serving more than 200 meals per day, by way of delivery or pick up. We knew students would want pizza and Stacy Oosterink, our kitchen manager worked hard to make it happen. Our hope is that we can come up with a process to serve 2 slices to our Middle School students—safely and hot!
We’ve received some feedback on the twin burgers. I agree, it may not have filled up our middle school students. We are changing the menu on 10/12 and 10/26 to Bacon Cheese Burger and Smiley Fries with Fruit of the day. Another change to come on 10/5, will be Free Snacks for all students.
We will be sharing a snack menu with you, soon. Students do not have to take the snacks, but they are all non-perishable and could be brought home as well.
Hopefully all of these improvements will help squash midday hunger for our kiddos.
We enjoy serving our students and so wish it could be like last year. For now, we will work hard on listening to our customers and doing our very best to continue to serve lunches.
Thank you for your partnership with feeding your students. If you have any questions please email Nancy Michaels at nmichaels@hollandchristian.org
