IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING ILLNESSES:
Please read the guidelines, below, outlined in our Innocademy Family Resource Guide and recommended by the Ottawa County Health Department
Illness
Please help us create a safe, healthy environment for all of our students and teachers. We ask for your help in keeping your child home any time he or she is ill or becoming ill. It can be a tough call but if we all adhere to the guidelines, we can help make these days happen less for everyone.
Per the Ottawa County Health Department, these include:
● Fever within the previous 24 hours, must be fever free without the use of medications for 24 hours.
● ANY vomiting or diarrhea in the past 36 hours. Must be completely symptom free without the use of medications for 36 hours. If they still are not eating normally, they shouldn’t return to school.
● Any symptoms of diseases (scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, etc.)
● Runny nose with any colored discharge
● Excessive coughing
● Sore throat
● Any unexplained rash
● Pink eye
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our contestants and our Spelling Bee Winner and Runner up who will be heading to the Regional Tournament in February! Thanks to Ms. Jane for always being willing to be our pronouncer for the bee!
Ms Gina’s Friends had fun noticing the woods look different. Two places with water instead of one. Why? One is moving and doesn’t have ice, the other is not moving and does have ice. Why? We talked more about owls and how they stay and adapt instead of hibernate or migrate. We played a game being owls and mice or birds and prey.
Ms. Gina’s friends enjoyed some fun, flashlight reading and exploring shadows that they made!

Hand 2 Hand Meal Assistance
Hand 2 Hand is an organization that provides supplemental weekend food and snacks for families. It is designed to come alongside families who may be having financial difficulties. Families choose how long or short of a time they will participate in the program. Click on the link for more details or to sign up.
Scholastic Book Fair – Volunteers Needed
Big thank you to Carolyn Fitzgerald for once again organizing the Scholastic Book Fair to be held during student led conferences on March 31st, April 1st and April 2nd. Report Cards Published 1/28
You may begin accessing your child’s first semester report cards through Infinite Campus beginning tomorrow morning, January 28th. If you do not have an infinite campus account created, yet, because you are a new family to Inno this year, please contact Ms. Heidi at heidi.wolters@innocademy.com and she will provide you with directions on set up. If you have forgotten your password, Heidi can help you with that as well.

iCademy Family Spotlight – We Need You!
At IES, we value global learning! If you and/or your family has traveled recently, we’d love to hear about it! Every couple of months, a team of teachers focused on expanding our school’s global mindset, will be sending out a newsletter that features educational videos, relevant activities, and student/ staff spotlights. If you’d like to share your international experience, please complete this form by the end of Winter Break. We are looking forward to seeing all the cool places that the IES community has been!
Total Trek Quest – SIGN UPS Happening NOW! We Currently have 6 Boys Registered!!!
Total Trek Quest is a fun, high energy program designed exclusively for boys in 3rd-5th grade! TTQ incorporates strength and stretching exercises with training for a 5K. Boys in this program will develop positive peer relationships, and feel a part of a team, while also working toward individual goals. Additional practice activities focus on developing a healthy lifestyle, social/relationship skills, how to make healthy choices, and resisting peer pressure.

We’re also always looking for coaches. Coaches can be male, female, both, or neither, and are in prime position to be a positive role model for these boys throughout this 9-week journey. Coaches don’t need to be a runner, as the program has much more to offer. All coaches receive support from TTQ staff before, during, and after the season, as well as program training & CPR certification. This is a truly rewarding experience for anyone.

Bittersweet Ski Passes STILL Available
Ski passes are a great opportunity for folks to purchase a pass ($18) that acts as a coupon throughout the season; reducing the prices on lift tickets, helmets and rentals. The pass can be used, repeatedly, at any time throughout the ski season (please read the restrictions on timeframe and days), by the pass holder! ANYONE can be part of the ski club…student, parent, family friend.

- Fill out the attached form for student and/or adult
- Secure in an envelope with payment (checks payable to BITTERSWEET SKI RESORT)

Recess Reminder – We Are Outside EVERY day
Just a reminder to always, always, always send winter gear with your students as, barring rain or extreme temperatures, we are outside every day. Innocademy is in line with area schools in the district in terms of heading outside for recess. Our threshold is a “feels like” temperature of 0 degrees. Anything zero degrees or below we will stay inside. If it is above, we will be heading outside for recess.
All of our students are expected to be outside for recess because we know that fresh air is healthy for us – even if we have a bit of a cold. If you feel your student is too ill to be outside in the fresh air, he/she should probably be at home that day, recovering.
