Daily Second Language
Our daily second language is an integral part of our students’ global education. All students receive Spanish instruction four times a week for 50 minutes a day (depending on their age).
During this time, students experience a mini immersive experience that allows them to learn to read, write, listen and speak in Spanish. Our students also explore the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. Our daily second language focus helps cultivate our students’ global mindset and prepares them for experiences abroad in their middle school years.
Electives & Specials
Our students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade attend “Specials” classes, each lasting approximately 45 minutes every week.
Art
In Art class at Innocademy, students will explore a variety of mediums and media in order to solve creative problems, improve fine motor skills, and develop creative and critical thinking skills and interests. Each grade level will get to work with as many mediums as possible. Students can participate in a local art show featuring many area schools and middle school students attend ArtPrize.
Music
Every child in TK-8th grade receives weekly music instruction. This instruction also includes two all-school music performances where students share their musical learning and develop their skills as performers. Students receive opportunities to develop their voices as a singer and their fine and gross motor skills as an instrument player using instruments like the xylophone, recorder and ukulele.
Connections
Connections class focuses around our vision of developing a Global Mindset through Nature-Rich and Innovative projects. Students connect what they are doing in science and social studies to experiences within the community and in our own school grounds. They learn to solve problems with technology, such as Lego Robotics and Little Bits Electronics, and other sensory rich materials like mud, cardboard and sand. Through these projects and direct lessons on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students learn about new cultures, their celebrations and the struggles they face.
Sports Skills
Sports Skills seeks to develop students’ sportsmanship, resilience and confidence through a whole-child approach to physical education. Students will grow to appreciate and encourage each other, seek a positive mindset in difficult situations, and boost their self-confidence while learning and playing new sports and games. This is offered as an additional option to students.
Spanish FLES
Daily Spanish is just as important to us as our core subjects. All students receive Spanish instruction four times a week where they learn to read, write, listen and speak in Spanish. Through this class, they also explore the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries, fostering a global mindset and prepares them for their international capstone experience in middle school.
