Mr. Chad’s Friends got to learn about the differences between herbivore and carnivore skulls – thanks Myles!

Ms. Morgan’s Friends are learning all about amazing angles by creating art using protractors and the first letter of their names!

Ms. Anita’s Friends discovered a bunch of amazing TREASURES that, until recently, have been hidden by the snow. They created different groups for things that were lost and found, trash, and items that were naturally occurring.

NEW INFORMATION

FIRST EVER FLAT STANLEY HOCKEY TOURNAMENT NEXT WEEK!

The first ever FLAT STANLEY CUP comes to Innocademy’s brickyard this next week, named appropriately after the National Hockey League’s year-end tournament as well as the popular school pen-pal movement from yesteryear! We are playing a grade v grade tournament with the winning grade getting the chance to play the staff team on Friday! Included in the tournament is a round robin and a winners’ bracket toward the week’s end. The stakes are not only for school bragging rights, but also for a chance to taste the sweet victory of HC cinnamon rolls and ice cream with mountains of sprinkles; sounds like a classic entry into spring and an adios to a good winter! Encourage your kiddos that they can ensure their grade’s success just by playing together; that’s a win-win scenario!

If you have any questions, please contact the lunch league commissioner through email: ben.cole@innocademy.com. Have a great, sunny week!

The 2nd event is for parents only.  Our literacy coach from the Ottawa ISD will be giving two presentations, Young5s-4th grade and 5th-8th grade.  The theme is developing a reading tool kit for home to help your growing readers.

ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WHO WISH TO PLAY SPORTS

Registration for GRACEAC spring sports with our partner school, Corpus Christi is now open! GRACEAC will be offering girls soccer and boys & girls track & field for 5th-8th graders this spring. Spring sports are permitted to begin practice on Monday, March 15 (subject to change), and the GRACEAC spring sports calendar typically ends before Memorial Day weekend. Parents can register for GRACEAC spring sports at the following link: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/256711

Documents for Participation: Please print and complete the following documents.  Return them to the coaches at Corpus Christi who will keep them on file for the school year.

G.R.A.C.E.A.C.

Corpus Christi belongs to Grand Rapids Area Catholic Elementary Athletic Council (GRACEAC).  The school athletic director attends all GRACEAC meetings.  Information regarding GRACEAC and the sports schedules can be found on their website – www.graceac.com. Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to sign up! Corpus Christi’s “no-cut” policy gives all athletes an opportunity to improve their skills and contribute to their team.

Physicals/Consent Forms

The GRACEAC requires each student-athlete wishing to participate in a sport to have a sports physical or wavier on file at school prior to the first practice with any team and dated no earlier than April 15 of the prior school year.  No student-athlete will be allowed to practice until this form is on file – no exceptions.

Eligibility

All students are expected to put forth their academic best in all subject areas just as they are expected to put forth their athletic best in all athletic areas.  Throughout all athletic sports seasons, student-athletes are expected to be able to answer yes to the following three questions.  If a student, parent/guardian, teacher, or administration fails to respond “yes” to either question – ineligibility may result.

  1. Have you turned in all of your homework assignments on time and completed to the best of your ability?
  2. Are you giving 100 % effort in your classes, in regard to your studies, homework, and tests?
  3. Are you showing respect to teachers, classmates, fellow team members, etc?

The student-athlete will maintain good academic standing in the opinion of his/her teachers as well as positive school behavior.  The player’s academic performance and behavior will be reviewed on a weekly basis.  The Athletic Director will notify the parent(s) in writing if the player received a warning or ineligible rating from any one teacher.  If a student-athlete receives two or more warnings in one week or a warning from the same teacher for two consecutive weeks, the player will be ineligible to participate in that review period. If a player is ineligible twice, the student-athlete will be removed from the team.

Uniforms & Fees
Every athletic team is provided a Corpus Christi uniform.  The uniform varies depending upon the sport.  At the conclusion of the sports season, it is your responsibility to return a clean uniform.  Failure to do this will result in a replacement fee.

We strive to offer a quality athletic experience for your son/daughter.  The participation fee is $60.00 per student, per sport for the coming year.
