REMINDER: If you have not communicated your family enrollment plans for next year, please do so, asap so that we can save a space, if necessary, for an incoming sibling.
Open Enrollment for NEW families begins on THURSDAY, January 30th! Yup, this is waaaaay earlier than past years =).
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our contestants and our Spelling Bee Winner and Runner up who will be heading to the Regional Tournament in February! Thanks to Ms. Jane for always being willing to be our pronouncer for the bee!
Ms Gina’s Friends had fun noticing the woods look different. Two places with water instead of one. Why? One is moving and doesn’t have ice, the other is not moving and does have ice. Why? We talked more about owls and how they stay and adapt instead of hibernate or migrate. We played a game being owls and mice or birds and prey.
Mr. Chad’s friends are learning how to work in teams with other classmates; how to be a leader and a positive group member. Their marble runs are getting tricky!

PBIS Announcement:
As many of you may be aware Innocademy is using a Positive Behavior Intervention & Support system to acknowledge good behavior that meets our four school wide expectations of Being safe, responsible, respectful and resilient in efforts for all students to model this behavior at all times. Students receive an acknowledgement ticket by a teacher when they are seen doing this expectation and enter it into a weekly drawing. If their ticket is called they have a choice in the prize they get. Well, PBIS has new faces!
We are Mindy and Natalia, moms of two kindergarten students.
We want to introduce ourselves because, during this school year, we will work to make the PBIS initiative grow. Why? To motivate our students regarding the fundamental values that move us as a school!
Some of the things we will start doing is giving more importance to the displays of the ticket raffles and rotating the prizes month by month, with this generating interest and expectation. We will also send a newsletter with the monthly count and the winners so that we can all celebrate the excellent behavior of our students!
For the PBIS initiatives that we have planned and a couple more to come, we need your help. From Wednesday 12/11 until Friday 12/13, we will be doing a small fundraiser intending to collect what is necessary for the initiatives and awards for this school year.
If you want to help, an envelope can be sent to school with your child to leave at the reception or their teacher – label it PBIS, please. Alternatively you may send the money via Venmo to Natalia at @ Natalia-RuizP. The suggested donation is $5 but any amount is appreciated and welcome! *
We thank you in advance for your support as we hope to make PBIS an even greater success this year!
Kindly,
Natalia and Mindy
* The proceeds will be published in the newsletter along with the monthly expenses

iCademy Family Spotlight – We Need You!
At IES, we value global learning! If you and/or your family has traveled recently, we’d love to hear about it! Every couple of months, a team of teachers focused on expanding our school’s global mindset, will be sending out a newsletter that features educational videos, relevant activities, and student/ staff spotlights. If you’d like to share your international experience, please complete this form by the end of Winter Break. We are looking forward to seeing all the cool places that the IES community has been!
Total Trek Quest – SIGN UPS Happening NOW! We Currently have 5 Boys Registered!!!
Total Trek Quest is a fun, high energy program designed exclusively for boys in 3rd-5th grade! TTQ incorporates strength and stretching exercises with training for a 5K. Boys in this program will develop positive peer relationships, and feel a part of a team, while also working toward individual goals. Additional practice activities focus on developing a healthy lifestyle, social/relationship skills, how to make healthy choices, and resisting peer pressure.
Please register your son here: https://www.raceplanner.com/register/index/AOSpring2020
We’re also always looking for coaches. Coaches can be male, female, both, or neither, and are in prime position to be a positive role model for these boys throughout this 9-week journey. Coaches don’t need to be a runner, as the program has much more to offer. All coaches receive support from TTQ staff before, during, and after the season, as well as program training & CPR certification. This is a truly rewarding experience for anyone.
If you have questions regarding registering your boy(s) and/or are interested in coaching, please contact Brandon Melnyk @ bmelnyk@arborcircle.org , or 616-450-4651.
Thank you, and we’ll see you in the spring!

Recess Reminder – We Are Outside EVERY day
Just a reminder to always, always, always send winter gear with your students as, barring rain or extreme temperatures, we are outside every day. Innocademy is in line with area schools in the district in terms of heading outside for recess. Our threshold is a “feels like” temperature of 0 degrees. Anything zero degrees or below we will stay inside. If it is above, we will be heading outside for recess.
All of our students are expected to be outside for recess because we know that fresh air is healthy for us – even if we have a bit of a cold. If you feel your student is too ill to be outside in the fresh air, he/she should probably be at home that day, recovering.
