REMINDER: Innocademy Thanksgiving Break begins next Monday, November 25th! Enjoy the holiday! We are looking forward to seeing you all on Monday, December 2nd!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Weaver Family! They were the winners of the Marketplace Scavenger Hunt on Thursday evening so $25 will be added to their family trip account. Thanks to everyone who participated!

WOW! What a fantastic Saturday full of fun!!! Innocademy hosted 20 teams from all over west Michigan at our middle school robotics tournament! Thank you to all who volunteered time to make it an extra special event! Special thanks to Mr. Chad and Ms. Renee for organizing the day! Additional huge thanks to our student referees from iCademy Global and Holland Christian High School Robotics Teams and their head referee, Mr. Reid!

Recess Reminder – We Are Outside EVERY day

Just a reminder to always, always, always send winter gear with your students as, barring rain or extreme temperatures, we are outside every day. Innocademy is in line with area schools in the district in terms of heading outside for recess. Our threshold is a “feels like” temperature of 0 degrees. Anything zero degrees or below we will stay inside. If it is above, we will be heading outside for recess.

All of our students are expected to be outside for recess because we know that fresh air is healthy for us – even if we have a bit of a cold. If you feel your student is too ill to be outside in the fresh air, he/she should probably be at home that day, recovering.

LAST WEEK! Food Drive this Month

Each of the classrooms have a collection box for any donations students bring in throughout this week. While we’d love any donations you are able to provide, the target for this last week of the drive is HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. Please refer to the attached list for ideas.

Questions? Please connect with Ms. Gina at gina.dobbin@innocademy.com

Construction Update

You may notice some construction happening on the playground this week! We are excited to be building a hitting wall for lacrosse, tennis, etc.

REMINDER! Christmas Parade Dec. 2nd – Participants Needed

Innocademy and iCademy Global will again be participating in the Zeeland parade on Monday, December 2. The parade marches through downtown Zeeland beginning at 6:30pm. We will have limited space for students to ride on the float, but would love to welcome tons of walkers next to the float! No need to sign up and everyone is welcome! We will send out more details as they become available closer to the date.

REMINDER: Afterschool Enrichment – Ending After Thanksgiving

Our Afterschool Enrichment Program will be discontinued after November 22nd.  Unfortunately, we have struggled staffing this program this year and, as a result, are unable to continue offering this to families.  We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

They also do tons of theme related things–summer camps, free things around town, seasonal things, etc.

What Should I Do If My Child Has Lice?

Throwing a check on kiddos every couple of weeks is a good practice for early detection of lice. Or, if your student is unlucky enough to have had lice, checking several times a week, at first, is a great way to keep them at bay. Nits are the eggs that hatch into the live bugs. Nits are kind of “glued” to the shaft of the hair – usually about 1/8″ – 1/4″ from the scalp and do not flake off or move easily like dandruff. They generally don’t engulf the entire strand of hair, but are oval and stuck to one side like a leaf on a stem (sorry to gross you out…and you are probably itching, now, aren’t you?).

Below are some GREAT resources on myths vs. facts, how to clean your home (don’t forget your car and car seats!) as well as additional information from the Ottawa County Health Department.
