Ms. Kerri’s learners started reading Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. What a wonderful story about community coming together despite diversity. This story is told from the view of the wishing tree. Hopefully you or your kids have noticed our wishing tree up by the front entrance. We have added our personal, community or world wishes to the tree. Please add to our tree if you would like!

NEW Information

Teacher Appreciation and Food Drive

Oh how we love our Innocademy teachers!
It is Teacher Appreciation day tomorrow, Tuesday May 8th, so we would like to have a simple fun week of celebrating them, and all their hard work.
To make it fun for all, and keep our focus on reaching our community, we have come up with some little things to do all week.
Taco Tuesday- will kick off our celebration serving the teachers tacos. Food being provided by Mi Favorita Grocery, part of our Inno Family
Wild Wednesday- kids bring 2 (wild) flowers to share with their teacher and a specials teacher (male teachers will win points with their wives if they bring home a vase of flowers!)
Thank-you Thursday- will be such a blessing to have each kid bring in a thank you card for their teacher(s)
Favorite Friday- is a chance to share some of the teacher’s favorite treats with them. Please see the signup if you would like to contribute something to your child’s teacher(s). www.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090C4AAEA72EA02-teacher
Food Drive- Innocademy Classic, Innocademy Middle, and Las Huellas will be competing for the most donated food items per department, with the winning team having a “teacher surprise” during the assembly on Friday. (think Jimmy Fallon, Dance Evolution) Items to be dropped off in the lobby by front windows, in the department they want to contribute to for the contest.

Thank You!

We are finished with Jump Rope for Heart and our students have raised over $4,000!!! Wow! Thanks so much for your generosity and support of this fabulous project!

Check Out Camp Infinity!

Camp Infinity is a four-day summer technology camp for girls entering 5th to 8th grade that introduces technology as fun and fulfilling and inspires the pursuit of technology education. MCWT Foundation created it to address the primary reasons girls lose interest in technology: confidence, social relevance, and social (peer) acceptance. The camp:

  • ●  Builds confidence and capability with hands-on technology activities such as robotics and web design
  • ●  Demonstrates that technology is fun through the execution of engaging projects with other girls, with high school/collegiate girls as counselors
  • ●  Reinforces social relevance by featuring visitors from the local technology community that explain how their work is important to society at large

Old Information (In Case You Missed It =)

Afternoon Dismissal….Please Help

Each afternoon, as our kiddos wait for parents, you may notice it’s quite a challenge to have everyone corralled and ready for you all to scoop them up. When students are not where they are supposed to be  – – or not listening, it slows the process down, considerably. We have talked, quite a bit, at school and are asking for you to help reinforce these reminders at home as well.

The expectations for dismissal are as follows:

  • Everyone quickly exits the building as soon as they are released
  • Y5 – 2nd grade students sit on sidewalk and wait.
  • Older kiddos stand behind siblings or behind a younger friend.
  • Everyone should be on the sidewalk, not running around or playing on the playground.

Thank you!

Summer Technology Camp Opportunity for Girls

Camp Infinity is a week-long summer technology camp for girls entering 5th to 8th grade that introduces technology as fun and fulfilling and inspires the pursuit of technology education. MCWT Foundation created it to address the primary reasons girls lose interest in technology: confidence, social relevance, and social (peer) acceptance.

The camp:

  • Builds confidence and capability with hands-on technology activities such as robotics and computer game design
  • Demonstrates that technology is fun through the execution of engaging projects with other girls, with high school girls as counselors
  • Reinforces social relevance by featuring visitors from the local technology community that explain how their work is important to society at large

Founded in 2004, Camp Infinity helps spark girls’ interest in math and science, which tends to decrease during middle-school years. It separates the girls into two groups of 20 by grade to better cater to their technological experience. The fourth and fifth grade girls focus on website, app and video game design while the sixth and seventh graders focus on robotics and web and app design.

During lunch, professionals from leading area companies meet with the girls and encourage them to continue learning about technology. Access to role models like these reinforces the rewards and opportunities a career in technology can bring.

Date: Holland – July 16th thru July 19th

  • Lunch will be provided each day.
  • Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided each day.
  • All camp supplies will be provided.
  • Camp Infinity times are from 8:30am-3:30pm Monday – Thursday
  • Cost: $75/camper. Limited scholarships are available to reduce the cost to $25/camper.
