NEW INFO FOR THIS WEEK
IMPORTANT: Morning Drop Off
In order to keep drop off moving smoothly, a reminder that students should be ready to exit your car with all of their gear when you stop. A good rule of thumb is if you need to unbuckle yourself to unload your student(s) and organize his/her gear or do anything else other than wave goodbye, please choose a parking spot in the lot or visitor parking area next to the building rather than sitting in the drop off zone.
Parking Lot Safety Reminder – Please KEEP LEFT
Just a reminder that, when entering and exiting the parking lot on the West (McDonald’s side of the building, all cars should follow the posted signs and KEEP LEFT at all times during the day, night and weekends. Thank you for helping keep our traffic flow moving in the right direction an ensuring the safety of our students, staff and families.
Book Fair is HERE!
The Scholastic Book Fair is here! Wow, were your kids excited to see those book carts and flyers arrive. But now it gets even better! The books are out and ready to be explored beginning Monday morning. Your students will be going through as a class to browse and make wish lists on Monday and will have another scheduled class time later in the week to make purchases. But you are also welcome and encouraged to shop with them before or after school or before or after your student conference. Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 am – 8:00 pm and Thursday from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. The window for online ordering continues from now until April 1 athttp://www.scholastic.com/bf/innocademy where you can find all book fair books and have them shipped to school (and delivered to your student) for free.
And one more small detail. This is a great time to educate your students on sales tax and the importance of factoring this in when making purchases, including Scholastic books =)
Looking forward to seeing lots of you at the fair this week!

Fair Trade Market – Volunteers Needed
The dates for the Fair Trade Market have been set for December 8 and 9th. This market is different than the student marketplace taking place in November. Fair Trade Market is where fair trade vendors descend on Homestead Campus for our students, families and community to do some shopping while our students get to learn about what “Fair Trade” is all about. Planning for the event will begin on April 13th from 3:30-5pm in the cafe on campus and volunteers are needed! Please join us to help make this a fantastic event! Questions? More information? Please contact Rivka Kawano at firstname.lastname@example.org
Good Sam Run
The Wild Run is a fundraiser for Good Samaritan Ministries, whose mission is to end poverty and homelessness by mobilizing faith-based and community partners, activating individual and community assets, and meeting immediate needs in our community. Most of the families they serve with housing assistance and long-term supports have children in the OAISD. They would like to build awareness as a resource for families that are struggling and are asking for assistance from schools to provide information about their event to get families involved with younger students participating and high school students volunteering.
To help you get a sense for the event, here is a link to photos from 2016. This year they also have a food truck with a portion of the sales going back to the organization:https://www.facebook.com/pg/GoodSamMinistries/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10154409170885429
