Thank You

Thank you to Mike Bosch, yet again, for his handyman skills and effort in putting together our shelving!


Huge thanks to Megan Lambers and Lee Vongphrachanh for offering to be our Girls on the Run coaches this year!  We are so excited to be able to offer this program in the Spring!

Thanks also to the mystery volunteers who put together the black shelving unit!


Big thanks to everyone who donated wipes and diapers during the Diaper Blitz! They were soooo thankful for the outpouring of support. If you still have diapers and wipes that you intended to bring in, but missed out, please feel free to do so and we can absolutely get them delivered.

Lastly, thanks to the parents who volunteered during our Innocademy clean up this evening. What an amazing support group we have!

Devotions Time

Each day at 8:35 students may choose between devotions or morning recess. To help minimize distractions with students entering devotions at all different times during the morning, any students arriving to school after 8:40 will be asked to enjoy some outside recess play instead of heading inside for devotions. Thanks so much for understanding.

Volunteers Needed For Youngest Friends

We could really use a volunteer on Tuesdays to help the youngest friends class in Mosaic from 1:45 to 2:25pm. You would be assisting the teacher in class.  Also we could use a lunchtime volunteer on Fridays 11:45 – 1pm to help set up hot lunch and clean up afterwards. Please email if you are able to help with those needs.  Thanks!

Attendance At Innocademy is the absolute first place our team looks for information regarding your student if they are marked absent in the morning. If your child(ren) will be absent or late for any reason, please utilize this quick and easy method of letting us know. Thank you! Also, BIG thanks for utilizing the sign in/out clipboard at the reception desk inside our main entrance for students coming late to school or leaving early. This is another critical piece for our attendance reporting.

Peanuts and Peanut Products at School

Just a reminder that we do have a student at school with a severe environmental peanut allergy. When packing snacks and lunches for school, please help us keep this student safe by choosing items that are peanut free. Thank you!

Before/After School Enrichment Payment

Please utilize the drop box located at the reception desk in the main entrance to Innocademy for all before/after school enrichment payments. Even though all of our payments are made out to IES, it is extremely important for record keeping purposes that we keep those payments separate from lunch and other fees. Thanks for you help!

Lunch Orders and Envelopes

Please feel free to stop in any time and stock up on hot lunch envelopes for the month. All orders for the next week will be due the Friday before….so orders for the week of October 8th can be turned in anytime before Friday afternoon, October 5th. If you would like to turn in all envelopes this week for the month for each child, with payment, please feel free! If you have envelopes at home that you will not be using, please feel free to send those in so that we can reuse them.

Speaking of Lunch… TIME CHANGE

When we return from break, we will begin not only hot lunch, but also eating inside the building. Because we simply do not have enough seating for all of our students at one time, we are altering lunch times just a bit. All of our youngest, younger, middle and older friends will be eating from 12:00-12:25  while our oldest and beta high school friends eat from 12:25-12:50 each day.

We are noticing MANY students simply turning their lunch boxes upside down at the trash cans at the end of lunch, whether they’ve eaten/opened the item or not. We will be talking with students about what is okay to be thrown away (trash and opened/1-2 eaten items) and what we could keep in our lunch boxes (non-perishable items) for after school or another day. Please feel free to also have the discussion at home. Thank you.

Workshop for Parents of Teens and Tweens

On October 11th from 6:30-8pm the Ottawa County Health Department is offering a workshop for parents entitled “Drugs and Sex – What your teen is not telling you?” If you would like to sign up or are interested in more information, please contact Heather Alberda at

Art Prize Trip 2012

Next Friday, October 5th, we will be visiting Art Prize in Downtown Grand Rapids. We will be utilizing busses from Zeeland Public Schools for the trip and the cost per student (and chaperone) will be $5. We will be leaving Innocademy at 9:15am and returning approximately 2:10pm. If you are interested in accompanying us, we would love to have you! And we even have room on the bus! There will be a sign up genius coming out shortly for parents to sign up. Money for the trip can be sent in a sealed envelope with your family name on the outside. As always, if the cost of this trip presents a financial hardship for your family, please contact an Innocademy Staff Member. We are always happy to work something out. It is our goal that cost never keeps a student from participating in any experiences we offer.

School Pictures at Innocademy

HUGE thanks to Christy Pacanowski for volunteering to do school pictures for us again this year! If you’d like to see Christy’s amazing work, please feel free to check out the website Here’s how school pictures work:

  1. Please send your student(s) to school on Monday, October 1st with their best smile.
  2. Christy will take his/her picture and process a proof or two for you to look at – you will receive these home a couple of weeks after pictures along with an order form. Please see pricing guide here: inno-pricing-card
  3. Order forms and payment are due by the date on the order form that accompanies proofs
  4. Orders go home with students probably last week in October/1st week in December
  5. Late orders can be processed, but shipping will need to be paid by families.

Holland Mission Food Drive

Next week we will be holding a food drive to benefit the Holland Rescue Mission. We will be collecting canned goods, dry pantry items, toiletries, etc. All donations will be dropped off at the Holland Rescue Mission on Friday afternoon, October 5th. There will be boxes in the front entrance labeled by Pod for your child to drop off their donations. We are excited to see the friendly competition between pods as we gather donations! Thank you!

Cheesy teachers, Ms. Kelli and Ms. Kerri dress up to celebrate Blue Room Readers enthusiasm for Geronimo Stilton. Oreo is excited by their shirts, but can’t quite figure out why they don’t taste like cheese!


Oreo visited during the cheese party in the blue room and even received a goody bag from the readers!


Lucas and Connor share a book during a partner read time.
