Thank You!!!

We wish to express our most sincere appreciation to the Mackinac Island travelers and chaperones! What a fantastic trip! We heard lots of nice comments from business owners on the island about how well behaved and kind our students were and can’t say enough good things about all of our parent chaperones!

Thanks to Claire M. for her sweet donation of books to our school!

Also, thank you to Megan Lambers and Ms. Heather for coaching our Innocademy Girls on The Run Team this year! An experience our young runners won’t ever forget, I’m sure!

Thank you to the parents of the Girls on The Run Team for sending snacks each week as well!

And one last (but certainly not LEAST!) thank you to Budd Bentley for working some picture magic on our Innocademy website with our slide show and video link!

Dah…Dah…Dah (It Sure Is Hard to Do Cool Trumpet Sounds in Words!)

We are so proud to announce that Innocademy is one of the 2012-2014 AIR Grant recipients through the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra! This grant will provide an orchestral experience for each of our grade levels for the next two years!  Not only will our kiddos be able to attend a concert in the greater Grand Rapids area, we also have the huge privilege of the orchestra performing at our school.  This grant is worth well over $8,000 and beyond the monetary value provides an amazing opportunity for our students to have exposure to the world of performing arts that we could not otherwise provide.  So, join us in celebrating this exciting addition to the many wonderful things that are going on at Innocademy!

Innocademy Dance Camp

Miss Hope Burgess offered a dance camp last summer at the Innotec Gym for our Innocademy friends and we feel so fortunate that she is wishing to offer another one this year! Innocademy Showcase 2012!

On June 12, 2012 from 5:30-7:30 at Community Reformed Church, Innocademy will be hosting an event to showcase your child’s learning experiences in their specials this year.  Included will be an art gallery, Bal-a-visix demonstrations, a skit by some of our older friends in Mosaic, piano recital, L2BF fun, and food!  Did I mention food?  Yes!  We are hoping to have an hors d’oeuvres pot luck. We thought that folks will be hungry as this is through the dinner hour, so come hungry and ready to learn all about what your kids have been learning in their specials. So we don’t end up with 20 veggie trays, we’ve done some food assignments If your child is in the BLUE pod, please bring a Veggie or Fruit snack to share. If your child is in the GREEN pod, please bring a Dessert snack to share. If your child is in the RED pod, please bring a Protein, Meat, Egg or Cheese snack to share. Please remember that all snacks should be peanut free. You should be receiving an invitation through Sign-Up Genius to put down what you will be bringing. IF you for some reason do not, please let Ms. Amy know at amy.harbison@innocademy.com. If you have any questions about food items, please contact Jacquelyn McNaughton at j.mcnaughton@yahoo.com.

From 7:00-7:30 there will be a short program in the main auditorium to highlight a few of this years special’s moments and to celebrate our 8th grade graduate this year.  If you have any questions about the Showcase please contact Ms. Amy at amy.harbison@innocademy.com

Did You Know?

Big thanks to Katie Voight of the Ottawa County Health Department for the following link on “How to Read Labels”. Those families who struggle with allergies (or those of us packing peanut free lunches) including dairy, wheat, nuts, eggs, etc can find lots of really helpful information through this link. http://www.foodallergy.org/files/HTRLsheet_2012.pdf

Innocademy Parent Meeting BYOChair

Just a reminder that our Innocademy Parent Meeting will be held tomorrow, Monday, May 21st at 6:30pm. It will be held at our new location, 8485 Homestead, Zeeland. We have some pretty incredible renderings to share from our architect and the design team as well as updates on transportation, sports, food service, before/afterschool time and music opportunities. In light of the fact that there is no furniture at the new building we are asking that you please bring along a chair to use for the meeting. Thank you!

“Snack Shack” Still Open

Ms. Mel’s ELA group will again be selling snacks this week to Innocademy students in order to raise money for their East Coast trip. Snacks will be sold before school from 8:35 - 9:05. Snacks range in price from .25 - 1.00. Peanut free, healthy choices will be available for students to purchase at this time. Parents have the ability to purchase “punch cards” for their child/ren in any amount that is appropriate for their family.

Thank you for helping us support or trip to help us learn more about the cool world we live in!

Regards,

The Green Room Readers
